Neighborhood Tour through 30 Years of Berlin-Friedrichshain – a walking tour to key locations of the squatter and alternative scene from the 1990s to the present.
This political walking tour is guided in English by Klaus Wehner or Lee Volin, who have both followed the tour many times. It is based on the original version by eyewitness Andreas Winter, who moved from Kreuzberg to Friedrichshain on November 14, 1989 – just days after the fall of the Berlin Wall. As a spokesperson of the Mainzer Straße squatters, a witness to the murder of Silvio Meier, a squatter of the L16 house, a district representative and a long-time resident of the “danger zone” around Rigaer Straße, he provides unique insight into the traditionally rebellious Friedrichshain.
And usually, Mr Winter very much enjoys joining the tour even when it is held in English. Just to check on us - and give extra authenticity. 🥸
