The tour begins at Nollendorfplatz.
This 3-hour tour starts at the epicenter of queer Berlin, Schöneberg, where you will learn that a century ago the same streets were home to a vibrant gay and lesbian scene that included Marlene Dietrich and Christopher Isherwood, the writer whose novels inspired the musical Cabaret. In the 1970s, the queer scene was revived by Romy Haag, the transsexual chanteuse and muse of David Bowie. You'll glimpse the city's notorious gay cruising grounds in Tiergarten Park, then pay homage to the brilliant sexologist Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld. On Unter den Linden, you'll meet some of the city's historic gay figures, then hear how queer life survived under the repression of Communist East Germany in Alexanderplatz.
