This guided walking tour explores the history of the Berlin Wall not only from a political perspective but, above all, through the experiences of the people who lived with it every day. Discover how families were separated, how escape attempts became part of daily life, and how the division affected people on both sides of the Wall.
One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to the remarkable 360° panorama "The Wall" by Berlin artist and eyewitness Yadegar Asisi. Based on his personal memories and extensive historical research, the panorama recreates a Berlin border neighbourhood of the 1980s in extraordinary detail. Light, sound and perspective combine to convey the atmosphere, constant surveillance and surprisingly ordinary daily life in the shadow of the Berlin Wall.
At authentic locations including Checkpoint Charlie, the Palace of Tears, Alexanderplatz and Karl-Marx-Allee, the history of the Cold War comes to life. Your guide explains both the political background to Germany's division and the personal stories of the people whose lives were shaped by it.
